Tykes Christmas Tournament Champions!!!

Our Belle River Tykes White Team had great success over the holiday season just past, winning the Tyke Christmas Tournament, held in Belle River.

The final game was a standoff between the White and Orange team, with White taking the Championship with a 4-1 win.

Congratulations to the Players and Coaches on this great achievement!!!

A special thanks as well to both Paul Eddy and Darren Ray for their support in coordinating this event and for keeping thing running smoothly.

 

16th Annual Hockey For Hospice Atom Champions!!!

Our Belle River Atom Junior Canadien (Yellow Team) earned a Championship win at the 16th Annual Hockey For Hospice played December 27-29th.

They did a fantastic job representing Belle River. The championship game went to triple, yes TRIPLE OVER TIME against the LaSalle Sabres before our boys scored the game winner making it a 2-1 final.

To top it off the team raised $2,400 for Hospice. Excellent job players and coaches!!!

 

 

 

16th Annual Hockey For Hospice PeeWee Champions!!!

Our Belle River PeeWee Junior Canadien (Gray Team) earned a Championship win at the 16th Annual Hockey For Hospice played December 27-29th. The team faced off in an exciting PeeWee A final against the Tecumseh Blue Jackets and came up with an exciting 4-3 win after battling through the rankings containing over twenty PeeWee teams.

In addition to the great result on the ice, the team raised approximately $3,700 in pledges supporting the GREAT CAUSE!!! An amazing job both on and off the ice and CONGRATULATIONS to the team on an exciting Championship victory.

 

 

 

Dan Holland/Randy Merten Memorial Champions!!!

The Atom Major AA Belle River Junior Canadiens win the Dan Holland/Randy Merten Memorial Championship, played December 2-4th on home ice in Belle River!!!

Our boys faced off in an exciting final against North London, a formidable opponent in what would be an exciting match-up. Regular game time ended with zeros showing on the scoreboard. Overtime came and went and it came down to a shootout showdown to determine the victor. In shoot-out Belle River persevered winning the Dan Holland/Randy Merten Championship.

The Boys Flooded The Ice In Excitement... Congratulations to the team and coaching staff on this win, after coming up just short in two finals, and a semi-final OT loss in earlier season tournaments - AWESOME JOB!!!

 

 

 

Capital Cup Challenge Champions - AND - Supporting A Great Cause!!!!!!!!

The Peewee Major Junior Canadiens won the Capital Cup Challenge, hosted by the Southpoint Capitals, played November 25-27. The team secured the Championship with a 2-1 victory over Sarnia.

In conjunction with a fundraising effort sponsored by the tournament, the team managed to raise over $1200 for the Make-A-Wish program and deserving kids will be granted wishes as a result of the successful fundraising by the team and others through this Southpoint Minor Hockey coordinated event. The event raised a total of $16,000!!!!

Congratulations to the team and coaching staff - AWESOME JOB!!!

 

 

 

Dan Holland/Randy Merten Memorial Champions!!!

Congratulations to the Atom Minor AA Junior Canadiens for defending their title and winning this tournament for the second time, once as Belle River Rink Rats, and now as Belle River Junior Canadiens.

The team had to battle back after losing to the Brampton Battalion AA team in round-robin play. The team came out strong and took it to the Battalion in the Championship game with stellar goaltending and exceptional team play!!

CONGRATULATIONS to all the players and coaching staff!!!!

 

 

2011 Motown Cup Champions!!!!!

Congratulations to the Bantam Major Canadiens on their Championship victory at the 2011 Motown Cup, November 25-27, 2011 in Brighton, Michigan.

The team led their way through a very tightly matched divisional grouping to win the championship in what was an exciting final match-up, winning 2-1 over the Livonia Knights.

CONGRATULATIONS to the entire team on fabulous team effort and well played tournament!

 

Ursa Major Big Bear Tournament Champions!!!!!

Congratulations to the Minor Peewee Canadiens on their Championship victory at the Ursa Major Big Bear Tournament, November 11-13, 2011 in Melvindale, Michigan.

The team went undefeated all weekend and only allowed 4 goals against throughout the entire tournament. They won an exciting final game 4-1 over River Rock.

CONGRATULATIONS to the entire team on fabulous team effort and well played tournament!

 

Randy Brunett Memorial Tournament Champions

Congratulations to our Bantam Minor AA Junior Canadiens, who won the 2011 Randy Brunett Memorial Championship on Thanksgiving weekend in LaSalle, Ontario.

They were defeated only once in round robin against the hosting Sabres, but the two teams re-united in the finals where the Junior Canadiens stood strong with a 2-1 victory to earn the championship.

The team finished the tournament with a solid record of 4-1-0.

Congratulations to the players and the coaching staff on a job well done and the banner and trophy well earned.

 

Flat Rock Tournament Champions

The Bantam AE team won the Flat Rock tournament in Ann Arbor Michigan over the Thanksgiving weekend.

They were undefeated during the weekend finishing pool play with a record of 3-0 defeating teams from Ohio, Illinois and Michigan outscoring their opponents by 39-5.

In the finals they defeated the Illinois Leafs by a score of 2-1 with Jean Francois Brule being named the tournament MVP.

All players are to be congratulated for their team play and discipline.

 

North London Early Bird Champions

The Novice AA travel team did it again. They went into the North London Early Bird Tournament and came out of pool play with a 2-1 record.

After a huge Thanksgiving dinner prepared by the parents on Saturday night, they got to bed early and prepared for the semi-finals.

After beating North London 10-5 in the semis Sunday morning, it was on to the finals for a re-match with the Dorchester Dragons who beat the novices 9-4 in pool play. It was a back and forth battle until the third period and the novice team broke loose for 4 straight goals to take a 8-5 lead. Dorchester got one late goal but it was not enough to keep the Novice team from winning their second straight tournament

Essex Early Bird Tournament Champions

Congratulations to our Novice AA travel for winning the Essex Early Bird Tournament the weekend of September 24th.

They went 5-0 and outscored their opponents 35-6. It was truly a team effort as all players contributed to this exceptional performance and their hard work paid off.
