About BRDMHA Player Development
The Belle RIver Junior Canadiens development program is one that make kids smile when they enter the rink...
With a strong emphasis on skill development. Our youngest players take to the ice with great enthusiasm and are given the opportunity to develop their hockey skills in a well organized and safe environment.
Our Mites division (age 4) hits the ice with a player to coach ratio of 3\1 and our first time players quickly transition from snow angels to speed skaters.
Our Tykes division (ages 5 and 6)has a 4\1 player to coach ratio. This allows our coaches to spend time honing the skills of these players. Look out hockey world here they come.
Our Novice division (ages 7 and 8) has a 5\1 player to coach ratio. These players really begin to pick up the pace as our coaches begin to teach the finer points of the game.
Our goalies are not left out. We operate by-monthly goalie clinics with the help of "IN THE ZONE"
goalie instructors, Brian Higganbottom and Perry Wilson. This program is designed for goalies of all ages and skill
sets. This helps our goalies stay 'In the zone'.
With the help of Hockey Canada and the OMHA, our coaches are given the opportunity, through clinics and mentoring to improve their coaching skills. Years of continuous improvement has made our development program the envy of many. This is where we lay the foundation for the future of the Belle River Junior Canadiens.
Please remember none of this would be possible with out the coaches who volunteer their time.
